Pillar Care Continuum in East Hanover, NJ, is hiring a Representative Payee and Financial Services Specialist. The role handles payee activities, SNAP and Medicaid documentation, and cash management for individuals served, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.

The position requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with SSA, banks, and internal teams to safeguard funds and benefits. Salary is hourly with full-time status and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Accounting certificate or associate degree, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience; OR
• At least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, financial administration, account management, or a similar role.
• Experience maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional communication with families, support coordinators, banks, and government agencies.
• Ability to maintain confidential financial and personal information.
• Ability to complete required applications, monitor pending submissions, and follow up to resolve outstanding issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial activities for individuals served as Representative Payee, coordinating with banks and monitoring accounts.
• Submit Representative Payee applications, annual reports, and documentation to SSA and other agencies.
• Communicate with SSA and government agencies regarding accounts, expenditures, benefits, and related matters.
• Reconcile the main Representative Payee bank account and resolve discrepancies with Finance leadership.
• Coordinate individual financial management activities and maintain NJ ABLE and Choices Burial accounts.
• Process SNAP and Medicaid renewal applications and coordinate with families and coordinators.
• Monitor Medicaid renewals, recertifications, and other deadlines to prevent benefit interruptions.
• Prepare invoices, check requests, and journal entries for approval by Staff Accountant.
• Maintain organized financial records for reconciliations, audits, and internal reviews.
