Job summary

RTX EHRO in East Hartford seeks an experienced Repair Process Engineer to join our Engineering team. This fast-paced role demands project management and hands-on skills to drive long-term projects and daily shop-floor support on brazing/heat treating, peening, waterjet, and thermal spray.

You will interact with operators and management levels, owning process specifications, data-driven improvements, and equipment qualification.

Qualifications

• Advanced Degree and 3+ years of experience in Engineering, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Military, Aftermarket or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate’s degree and 7+ years of relevant industry experience. OR 9+ years of hands-on relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years’ experience within a manufacturing environment is required
• Strong analytical and engineering problem‑solving skills with the ability to break down complex process and equipment issues.
• Comfortable working on the shop floor, engaging directly with equipment, operators, and technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day manufacturing operations by diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to Brazing/Heat Treating, Peening, Waterjet, and Thermal Spray, ensuring processes remain stable, capable, and compliant.
• Lead the industrialization and qualification of new machines and technologies, including equipment commissioning, process validation, and capability studies.
• Develop, refine, and document technical process specifications to enhance quality, repeatability, and throughput, incorporating best practices and engineering controls.
• Collect and analyze process data using engineering tools to identify trends, define control limits, and recommend data-driven improvements.
• Evaluate existing equipment for performance, reliability, and lifecycle health, and support capital planning for upgrades, replacements, and revitalization.
• Partner with operators, quality engineers, and cross-functional teams to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce variation, and advance structured continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in root-cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods and support corrective and preventive actions to maintain long-term process stability.

What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney’s repair station (EHRO – East Hartford Repair Operations) is seeking for an experienced Repair Process Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is a fast-paced technical position requiring project management and technical skills to complete long-term projects along with everyday shop floor support. The person in this role will interact frequently with shop-floor workers and other employees at various levels of management. This role own the Special Process areas of overhauling a jet engine component, which includes Brazing/Heat Treating, Peening, Waterjet, and Thermal Spray.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support day-to-day manufacturing operations by diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to Brazing/Heat Treating, Peening, Waterjet, and Thermal Spray, ensuring processes remain stable, capable, and compliant.
• Lead the industrialization and qualification of new machines and technologies, including equipment commissioning, process validation, and capability studies.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• University degree ideally in Engineering. Mechanical or Quality Engineering preferred
• Familiarity of aerospace gas turbine engines, engine overhaul and part repair processes
• Knowledge of FAA Part 145, EASA, AS9110, and other relevant regulatory frameworks
• Previous industry experience with one or more of the following special processes: Brazing/Heat Treating, Peening, Waterjet, or Thermal Spray.
• Proactive, organized, and able to lead cross‑functional teams and manage quality clinics or other projects effectively
• Root Cause and Corrective Action experience (QCPC, RCCA Red‑X, Fault Tree, etc.)
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, etc.), and basic statistical tools
• Working knowledge of Pratt & Whitney shop practices & processes, quality standards, and inspections methods & tools
• Proficiency in MS Office, SAP ERP, Solumina MES, NX, AutoCAD, and Teamcenter is preferred
• Comfortable working on the shop floor and collaborating with a wide range of people.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to break down complex issues.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
