Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support our Cardiac Ablation Solutions and Cardiac Surgery platforms. You will install, calibrate, inspect, and service CV systems at customer sites, ensuring regulatory compliance and high reliability.

You will communicate technical information to clinicians and staff, document activities, and collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to drive product improvements. Expect substantial travel and strong patient care focus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 4 years of technical, clinical field service, or clinical customer support experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot medical equipment and apply engineering principles.
• Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform installations, inspections, verification, corrective and preventive maintenance of CV consoles and systems.
• Maintain and submit technical records per regulatory requirements.
• Provide input to service processes for continuous improvement.

The Vision: Committed to advancing and delivering optimal cardiac surgical care. The Field Service Engineer is the primary technical representative for Medtronic Cardiovascular (CV) customers and the sales and clinical teams. The FSE is also responsible for the technical assessment, installation, support, servicing, maintenance, and de-installation of all CV systems at customer sites. The FSE works closely with the Field Service and Technical Service teams to help coordinate feedback with the Marketing, Quality, Production and Engineering groups to continually evaluate the performance of products in the field. This position may also require providing technical assistance to physicians or technologists during clinical procedures.

Additional Information

Location: Individuals must reside within 60 minutes of Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to successfully support this territory. Territory: This position will support a territory that includes Boston and other New England locations. Travel: This position will require over 75% of travel including overnight travel.

Equipment

This position will work on Cardiac Ablation Solutions CryoConsole and Cardiac Surgery Autolog platform, Hemostasis Management System, Automated Coagulation Timer, Bio-console 560 Controller and systems introduced in the future.

Responsibilities

• Perform installations, inspections, verification, corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure the successful operation of CV consoles and systems.
• Maintain and submit technical records and documentation as per regulatory requirements.
• Provide information from experience in the field to colleagues in the office as well as updates to the database.
• Provide input to service processes to ensure continuous improvement and evolution of the Field Service organization.
• This includes the development and maintenance of Service documentation and procedures.
• Provide input to Engineering and Manufacturing for upgrades to CV products.
• Participate in the development and delivery of technical training to our distributors, partners, agents, and technically qualified representatives of the customer base.
• Help facilitate the smooth introduction of new products to customers by participating in design improvement discussions.
• Investigate, analyze, and recognize trends in technical data as it relates to CV products.
• Participate in special projects as requested by the US Field Service Manager or designee.
• Participate in and provide technical training to physicians, EP technicians and department managers at customer sites.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 4 years of technical, clinical field service, or clinical customer support experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to apply engineering principles such as electrical, mechanical, thermodynamic, and biomedical to troubleshooting without complete technical documentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and technically diagnose medical equipment.
• Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in teaching technical subject matter.
• Excellent time management skills and detail oriented.
• Flexibility to travel frequently.
• Ability to work independently, self-motivated and without direct supervision.
• Extensive direct, face to face customer contact and interaction.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$60,000.00 - $90,000.00 The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
