Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking candidates for a Reliability Engineering - Renewables internship in Colorado. The paid program offers hands‑on work with an operating 7.5GW renewables fleet, including analytics, SCADA support, and plant setup tasks.

You’ll present to senior leadership and collaborate with internal stakeholders. The role runs with a May 24, 2027 start date and may extend beyond the initial term based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Engineering
• Able to work full‑time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (10 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Fleet reliability analytics using Bazefield and Aveva PI software platforms
• SCADA support
• New plant setup support
• Performing component failure rate calculations
• Evaluating new technologies
• Substation component spare parts and risk tracking
• Occasional on-site field inspections
