Renewables Mid-Level Electrical Engineer

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer for our Renewables Business Unit. This position reports to an existing POWER office with remote work options from a mutually agreed location.

Roles And Responsibilities

We seek someone with foundational electrical engineering design skills and eagerness to learn. You will work within a multidisciplinary team leading and executing electrical components of federal and industrial projects.

Your tasks include creating construction drawings, specifications, studies, and reports. You should have solid knowledge of grounding, lightning protection, surge protection, lighting, protective relaying, generation systems, motor control centers, switchgear, substations, and UPS systems. Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, ICC, UFC, energy codes, and IEEE standards is required. Experience with electrical system modeling and power studies using ETAP, PTW, or EasyPower is preferred. Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, presentation skills, motivation, positive attitude, and multitasking abilities are essential. You will interact with clients and aim to complete projects successfully within budget and schedule.

Required Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of experience in designing low and medium voltage power systems, lighting, and special systems for commercial, federal, and industrial facilities.
• Ability to work supported and guided by senior engineers.
• Experience as an electrical or project lead engineer.
• Proficiency in performing electrical engineering tasks, including proposals, design, drafting coordination, calculations, BOMs, cost estimates, client coordination, and construction support.
• Ability to coordinate electrical efforts within project teams and support other disciplines.
• Mentoring skills for junior and mid-level engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Strong organizational, deadline management, and adaptability skills.
• Excellent communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration and client interactions.
• Ability to promote electrical skills and scope to clients.

Desired Education/Experience

• Professional Engineering License, with multi-state licensure potential.
• Experience in specification writing and editing.
• BOM and construction cost estimating experience.

Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year. Salaries depend on experience, skills, and education, excluding bonuses and other benefits.
