Job summary

Primoris Renewable Energy in Louisiana seeks a Civil/Mechanical Equipment Operator (Non-Driver) to operate heavy equipment on renewable energy construction sites, performing pre-operational checks and maintenance while following OSHA safety protocols. This role does not involve driving company vehicles.

You will excavate, grade, trench, and move materials per project plans, assist with mechanical assembly, and communicate effectively with the team to ensure steady progress.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating heavy civil and mechanical equipment on construction sites.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Familiarity with renewable energy construction projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction site safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematics.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
• Team player able to follow instructions.
• Physical ability for demanding outdoor work in various weather.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Relevant equipment operating certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy civil and mechanical equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, skid steers, lifts, and other machinery, as directed by supervisors.
• Perform daily pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on assigned equipment, ensuring safety features function properly.
• Adhere to safety protocols, company policies, and OSHA regulations while on site.
• Excavate, grade, trench, and move materials according to project plans and specifications.
• Assist with assembly, positioning, and installation of mechanical components for renewable energy systems.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth workflow.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or discrepancies to supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and proper storage of tools.
