Job summary

Geronimo Power is seeking a Permitting Specialist to prepare and obtain land use, environmental, and construction permits for utility-scale solar, wind, and powered land projects across America’s Heartland. This role covers all stages of environmental planning and analysis, from initial site diligence through permit acquisition.

You will lead permitting processes, coordinate with agencies and consultants, and ensure compliance through planning, review, and construction to support project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental studies or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2-5 years of environmental permitting experience.
• Familiarity with NEPA, USACE, USFWS, SHPO, and state Public Utility Commissions.
• Familiarity with state and local government processes including zoning and annexation.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Up to 25% travel required.
• Experience with Microsoft programs, ESRI ArcMap, Google Earth Pro.

Responsibilities

• Lead land-use and environmental permitting processes, including researching laws.
• Manage/prepare permit applications for conditional use, variance, zoning change or annexation.
• Represent Geronimo Power at stakeholder meetings, public hearings and events.
• Work with local law/code amendment processes.
• Manage environmental review and permitting for wetlands, endangered species, and archaeological/cultural resources.
• Obtain proposals for environmental surveys and oversee consultants.
• Track permit tasks and provide updates to management and project teams.
• Assist with preparation of project budgets and site reviews for planning.
• Support project mapping and planning, and project financing to ensure permit compliance.
