Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager - Protection & Controls to lead the high voltage P&C function for its renewable portfolio, including collector systems, substations, and gentie lines. You will own the P&C strategy, oversee detailed design and studies, and ensure safe, reliable interconnections with utilities and ISOs/RTOs.

Travel across the continental U.S. will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, power systems focus preferred.
• Minimum 5 years power systems engineering experience.
• At least 3 years in MV/HV protection and control for utility/industrial projects.
• Experience delivering P&C designs for HV/MV substations and collector systems.
• Familiarity with NEC/NESC/IEEE/NFPA 70E and interconnection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply protection and control philosophy for renewable plants.
• Oversee P&C design deliverables (SLDs, schematics, wiring diagrams).
• Direct relay settings and schemes including trip logic and SCADA points.
• Plan studies: short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, grounding grid.
• Lead coordination with utilities/ISOs and vendors.
• Provide field engineering, energization plans, FAT/SAT review.
• Mentor engineers and enforce QA/QC.
