Brightsmith is seeking a Commercial Analytics Associate to join its growing team in the United States. You will develop and maintain production cost models, forecast market fundamentals, and deliver actionable insights that influence project siting, portfolio strategy, and investment decisions.

The role blends quantitative analysis, programming, and electricity market fundamentals to solve complex problems in a fast-paced renewable energy development environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline.
• 2–5 years in electricity market analysis or related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, or R.
• Excellent Excel modeling with large datasets.
• Experience with production cost modeling software (PROMOD/PLEXOS/Aurora/GridView).
• Familiarity with ISO/RTO markets and market data.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and run production cost models across multiple ISOs and balancing authorities.
• Analyze energy, capacity, and ancillary services markets to forecast revenues and opportunities.
• Support long-term forecasts of generation, transmission, load growth, and policy impacts.
• Develop automation and data tools to improve model prep, execution, and post-processing.
