Job summary

PowerFlex is seeking a Development Engineer I to support the Business Development team through pre-construction engineering for C&I solar, storage, and EV charging projects. This hybrid role will work from one of our offices (San Diego, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or New York, NY) and involve coordination across departments and with external partners.

The role requires a B.S. in engineering, 1+ year of related renewable energy experience, and familiarity with interconnection processes.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 1+ years related experience, preference for renewable energy.
• Experience with renewable power distribution systems is a plus.
• Power system modeling experience is a plus.
• Experience integrating with building management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Determine project feasibility for C&I solar PV, storage and EV charging.
• Assist in interconnection applications and coordinate with utilities and partners.
• Analyze interconnection results and assist with costing.
• Research interconnection processes and incentives across states.
• Support proposal reviews from external partners.
• Assist with process improvements and QA under guidance of senior staff.
• Provide engineering support during permitting activities and AHJ submissions.
• Analyze site assessments to inform design and cost impacts.
• Build rapport with external utility personnel and understand changing requirements.
• Perform site assessments with engineering partners and occasional travel.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure compliant project design.
