Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Coordinator Transplant Assistant for full-time days to support the Renal Transplant program. The role coordinates scheduling of procedures and patient appointments in collaboration with the Transplant Institute and hospital departments.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, strong medical terminology, and at least three years of clerical or scheduling experience in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of three years of clerical/office related work experience in a medical or health care environment.
• Must have at least two years of scheduling experience in a fast paced medical office or hospital department.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to communicate in both Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to be crossed trained to other areas.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Consider priorities and special needs of the patient, physician, and the Hospital when scheduling appointments.
• Assist Transplant Nurse Coordinators with scheduling patients for pre-transplant studies.
• Schedules procedures according to policies, nursing and department staff availability, patient needs and physician block time.
• Coordinates schedule assessing time and equipment availability, identifies conflicts and adjusts schedule as needed.
• Maintains monthly on-call schedules for Transplant team (physicians and nurses).
• Coordinates outside clinic visits with internal schedules.
• Ability to run, pull and analyze data as needed for administrative use.
• Ability to scan records into EMR, retrieve records, schedule and reschedule patients, and perform appointment reminder calls.
• Assists Intake Coordinator with updating schedules as needed and communicates with providers and staff as needed.
• Assists Intake Coordinator to accurately prepare the schedule for timely distribution.
• Send out provider letters, candidacy letters, and patient communication letters as required by CMS.
• Follows procedure for notification of changes in the schedule (e.g. cancellation).
• Maintains and protects each patient’s right to confidentiality.
• Answers telephone and intercom courteously and in a quiet, pleasant voice.
• Assumes clerical and other administrative duties and responsibilities as necessary.
• Other duties as required.
