Job summary

We are seeking a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse at Riverview Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Gadsden, AL. The med surg RN provides comprehensive care to patients recovering from surgery, managing acute illnesses, or undergoing diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities include assessments, monitoring, administering medications, patient education, and coordinating with the care team. New grads welcome; shift is nights with differential.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current (preferred).
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
• Ventilator management experience preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health.
• Monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions.
• Recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration (heart rate, respiratory rate, mental status).
• Safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects.
• Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure needs are met.
• Provide patient education on condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
• Communicate with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans.
• Epic computer charting.
• New grads welcome!

Hours: 7:00PM - 7:00AM ($4 - $8 Shift Differential)

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, AL

We are seeking a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse at Riverview Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Gadsden, AL. The med surg RN plays an important role in our hospital by providing comprehensive care to patients who are recovering from surgery, managing acute and chronic illnesses, or undergoing diagnostic procedures. Med-surg nurses are considered the backbone of hospital nursing due to the variety and volume of patients they manage.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
