Job summary

APEI seeks a Vice President of Finance & Assistant Controller to support the SVP Finance and Corporate Controller, oversee accounting teams, and drive close and reporting processes. The role includes governance of GAAP, SOX, and internal controls while coordinating with SEC disclosures and audits.

The candidate will lead a growing accounting organization, hire and develop staff, and collaborate across business units to optimize financial planning and reporting in a high-growth environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in accounting/finance with leadership experience.
• Thorough understanding of SOX compliance.
• Experience managing a team of accountants.
• Proven recruitment and staff development track record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee timely monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial reporting by business unit.
• Assist with financial statements and footnotes for audits and perform variance analyses.
• Lead financial planning for all business units.
• Ensure compliance with accounting programs, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Advise leadership on financial impacts to the business.
• Direct Accounting Managers and drive high performance and training.
• Maintain cost allocations and internal controls.
• Prepare and adhere to US GAAP and SOX narratives.
• Collaborate with SEC team on disclosures and changes.
• Support merger and acquisition activity and regulatory reporting.
