Our client is seeking a VP, Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and controllership function within a growing organization. This is a highly visible leadership role that will partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership team while overseeing financial reporting, accounting operations, controls, treasury, and financial systems.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting and leadership experience along with the ability to improve processes, develop teams, and build a scalable finance infrastructure. This individual will also play an important role in supporting continued growth and acquisition activity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Partner with the CFO and executive leadership on financial strategy, capital planning, and growth initiatives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
- Partner closely with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Develop and monitor KPIs and financial performance metrics.
- Lead treasury, cash management, and credit agreement compliance.
- Oversee corporate risk and insurance activities.
Accounting, Reporting & Controls
- Own the monthly accounting close and financial reporting processes.
- Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies.
- Lead external audit activities and manage auditor relationships.
- Analyze financial performance, trends, and variances.
- Present financial results and insights to executive leadership, ownership stakeholders, and the Board.
- Standardize accounting and financial processes across the organization.
Systems, Growth & Acquisitions
- Provide leadership around financial systems, reporting tools, and overall finance infrastructure.
- Play a key role in ERP implementation and optimization initiatives.
- Ensure accounting systems and processes can scale with continued company growth.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Lead accounting and financial integration activities related to acquisitions.
Leadership
- Lead and develop the accounting and controllership organization.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and best practices across the team.
- Evaluate organizational structure and resource needs as the company grows.
- Oversee hiring, performance management, coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
- Serve as a key liaison between the accounting organization, executive leadership, and ownership stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with significant leadership responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit.
- Experience owning the monthly close and consolidated financial reporting process.
- Exposure to FP&A, financial strategy, treasury, and cash management.
- Experience scaling accounting processes, systems, and teams within a growing organization.
- Strong systems orientation with experience working with ERP and financial reporting platforms.
- Experience supporting ERP implementations or major financial systems initiatives preferred.
- Acquisition integration experience strongly preferred.
- Private equity-backed company experience is a plus.
- Professional services or another people-focused/service-based industry background is a plus.
