Job summary

Jobgether on behalf of a partner company seeks a VP of Engineering in the United States to lead and scale engineering across federal digital modernization programs, supporting 100+ engineers. This strategic role combines technical direction, organizational development, and hands‑on problem solving to deliver high‑quality software solutions.

You will establish the technical vision, define standards, mentor leaders, and partner with program managers and government clients.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading engineering organizations, including substantial federal contracting environments.
• Strongly preferred experience in commercial or product-focused settings, applying relevant practices to federal delivery.
• Proven ability to guide teams strategically while engaging with complex technical challenges.
• Track record building strong engineering cultures and high-performing teams.
• Solid understanding of Agile delivery, DevSecOps, and cloud modernization within federal environments.
• Collaborative leadership with ability to align teams and adapt practices.
• Experience developing partnerships and driving technical change with government clients.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Authorization to work in the United States; some roles may require security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Establish the technical vision, develop engineering talent, and ensure consistent delivery standards across programs.
• Define and implement engineering standards, best practices, and technical consistency across 100+ engineers, including AI tools.
• Lead engineering talent decisions, promote high performers, and develop emerging talent.
• Partner with Program Managers, Tech Leads, and senior leadership to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, review architecture, and prototype new ideas.
• Develop and maintain an engineering career framework with progression, mentorship, and certifications.
• Coach Tech Leads in technical leadership and people management.
• Drive technical strategy to improve performance, tooling, and delivery outcomes.
• Monitor AI/ML and cloud platform advances for client benefits.
• Support growth and capture activities through solution design and feasibility assessments.
• Represent engineering capabilities to clients and industry events.
