Job summary

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a Virtualization Engineer to support enterprise VMware and Nutanix environments, handle vulnerability remediation, platform upgrades, security hardening, and reliability across data centers.

You will collaborate with infrastructure, storage, backup, network, cloud, and application teams to maintain high availability and performance. The role requires hands-on experience with vSphere/ESXi/vCenter and Nutanix AHV, with strong scripting and automation skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise virtualization engineering or administration in a complex production environment.
• Hands-on with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter: cluster HA, DRS, vMotion, vSAN.
• Hands-on with Nutanix AHV/Prism or supporting both VMware and Nutanix environments.
• Patching, security hardening, upgrades, vulnerability remediation experience.
• Understanding of storage, backup, DNS, NTP, AD, Linux/Windows, and network services.
• Experience with change control, planning, validation, rollback, and documentation.
• Disaster recovery, replication, backup integration, RPO/RTO knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assess virtualization environment: clusters, hypervisors, management appliances, networking, datastores, templates, lifecycle, dependencies.
• Review vulnerabilities and advisories for VMware/Nutanix; identify assets, impact, remediation, prerequisites, rollback.
• Plan and execute upgrades, patches, firmware coordination, and secure configuration changes while preserving availability.
• Administer and troubleshoot VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter, and Nutanix AHV/ Prism components.
• Support VM provisioning, migration, cloning, snapshots, templates, resource pools, and DRS.
• Coordinate remediation across Windows/Linux, storage, backup, network, and cloud teams; validate with tests.
• Maintain records in ServiceNow or similar systems; document remediation steps.
• Develop platform standards, architecture diagrams, procedures, runbooks, and knowledge transfer.
• Automate admin/remediation tasks using PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, REST APIs.
• Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, DR drills, and on-call support.
