Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an Engineering leader to drive the design, operation and optimization of facility utilities such as electrical, refrigeration, steam, and fire protection. The role supports multiple US Fresh and Packaged Meat facilities and requires travel to sites.

You will engage external engineering resources, develop budgets, and mentor engineers while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. A bachelor’s degree in engineering plus 5+ years of experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management or project leadership.
• Knowledge of Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration.
• Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution.
• Strong reading, math, writing, analytical skills.
• Theoretical understanding of Facility Utilities Systems and ability to apply it.
• Proficient in AutoCAD drawing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to travel to other locations (about 50% of the time).

Responsibilities

• Operational Support & Optimization: Identify and implement solutions for Facility Utilities Systems and optimize operations.
• Project Development & Engineering Design: Manage external engineering resources and assist with scope, proposals, and budgeting.
• Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor engineers and develop their skills.
• Manage Excellence in Engineering efforts for engagement and compliance.
• Documentation & Reporting: Develop engineering reports and asset data matrices.
• People Management: foster positive employee experience through development and coaching.
