Job summary

Prisma Health Urgent Care is seeking a Remote Supervising Physician to provide clinical oversight and support for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across remote settings, with a formal SC supervising/collaborating physician relationship. The role requires staying compliant with laws, policies, and standards while ensuring patient safety.

The physician will supervise APPs during coverage periods, co-sign documentation, and offer guidance on escalation and plan-of-care changes.

Qualifications

• Must physically reside in the state of South Carolina (SC).
• Board Certified or Board Eligible and licensed to practice medicine in SC.
• Current DEA registration.
• Experience with procedures including suturing and drainage of abscesses.
• Experience reading diagnostic studies, including X-rays and EKGs.
• BLS certification (provider able to obtain if needed).
• Meets credentialing requirements for Prisma Health Urgent Care / WellStreet Urgent Care.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight and supervision of APPs as assigned, including consultation and guidance by phone or approved methods when not onsite.
• Review and cosign APP documentation as required by law and credentialing policies.
• Direct clinical care decisions for high-risk cases, abnormal vitals, ECGs, and other physician escalations.
• Support newly credentialed APPs during orientation and supervision periods.
• Participate in quality improvement and peer review activities related to APP practice.
