Premera Blue Cross is seeking an Underwriting Manager to lead a high-performing team remotely, guiding underwriting strategy and operations to support business priorities. You will blend leadership with underwriting expertise to optimize pricing, contracting, and policy provisions.

You will recruit, develop, and mentor teams while partnering with sales, finance, and senior leadership to drive performance and profitability in a telecommuter role across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field of study, or (4) years of work experience.
• Five years of underwriting, regulatory, or health insurance consulting experience.
• Previous underwriting experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy management monitoring reports for tracking financial and membership positions and contract and fulfillment production.
• Manage underwriting, pricing, and/or contracting activities to ensure rates and policy provisions are adequate to meet risks and profit objectives.
• Manage underwriting processes to meet or exceed turnaround goals and objectives.
• Recruit, hire, and train high-quality underwriting teams and manage performance appraisal.
• Manage the budget process for assigned cost centers per corporate guidelines.
• Serve as primary point of contact within Premera for underwriting policy information.
• Support sales and account management in presentations and negotiations.
• Develop pricing data and contract generation systems to support management decisions.
• Assist senior management in sustaining policies and procedures to support organizational strategy.
• Monitor data from internal departments to identify problems and develop solutions.
