Job summary

Premera Blue Cross is seeking an Underwriting Manager to lead a high-performing team from a remote/telecommuter work setup. You will blend leadership, strategic insight, and underwriting expertise to strengthen operations and support key priorities across the organization.

You will guide management in pricing, contracting, and policy development, while maintaining strong collaboration with sales and other departments to drive revenue and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field, or 4+ years of work experience.
• 5+ years of underwriting, regulatory, or health insurance consulting experience.
• Previous underwriting experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor management reports tracking financial and membership positions and production.
• Manage underwriting, pricing, and contracting activities to ensure rates and policy provisions meet risk and profit objectives.
• Oversee underwriting processes to meet or exceed turnaround goals and objectives.
• Recruit, hire, and train underwriting teams; manage performance appraisals.
