Job summary
UFG Insurance is seeking an Underwriting Center Underwriting Manager to directly manage a team of 6–9 underwriters. The role includes daily people leadership, workflow management, and oversight of underwriting activity to meet objectives.
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in commercial lines underwriting, strong leadership and mentoring abilities, and knowledge of risk analysis and pricing decisions. Remote/hybrid options may be available.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of commercial lines insurance underwriting experience.
- Experience leading a team and directing workflow and processes.
- AU/CIC/CPCU designation is preferred.
- Strong risk analysis and pricing knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of 6–9 underwriters and manage daily workflow.
- Review portfolios to meet growth, retention and profit goals.
- Provide SME guidance on systems, processes and procedures.
- Ensure underwriting decisions comply with risk appetite and authority.
- Collaborate with internal partners and field underwriting groups.
- Train, mentor and coach team members; manage performance.
- Monitor workloads and ensure timely processing within service standards.
- Underwrite renewal business when possible within authority.
