Job summary

FOCUS Team Focus Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriter I – Commercial Lines to support underwriting and servicing for commercial accounts. The role handles endorsements, certificates of insurance, inquiries, and cross-sell opportunities with accuracy in a fast-paced setting.

Licensing across all states is required; 3–5 years of experience in commercial P&C is preferred. The position offers remote and hybrid options with ET-hours, and strong collaboration with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Active Property & Casualty license required; must be able to obtain licensing in all 50 states
• Strong knowledge of commercial lines insurance products and underwriting principles
• Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities
• Proficient in agency management systems such as EZLynx and policy administration platforms
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and process commercial lines endorsements within authority
• Issue certificates of insurance per client guidelines and state regs
• Respond to policy inquiries via phone and email with timely resolution
• Manage tasks and service requests via email and call systems
• Support policy renewals by reviewing account status and coverage
• Answer inbound calls from agents, policyholders, and others about billing and documents
• Cross-sell additional lines of coverage when appropriate
• Document all interactions and underwriting decisions clearly in systems
• Monitor outstanding items and ensure timely follow-up and resolution
• Maintain positive relationships with agents, underwriters, and internal teams
