Job summary

Berkley Industrial Comp (BIN) is seeking an Underwriter for a remote role with up to 50% travel. You will underwrite new and renewal risks across a designated region, manage a book of business, and build strong agency partnerships to achieve profitability targets.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, and CPCU/CIC/AU are preferred. Strong MS Office skills and prior workers compensation underwriting in high-hazard industries are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• CPCU, CIC, or AU designation is preferred.
• Experience in workers compensation underwriting for high hazard industries (construction, heavy manufacturing) is preferred.
• Marketing experience with independent agents is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
• Self-motivated and results oriented.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites all new business and renewal risks for designated geographic region.
• Manages a book of business and maintains agency relationships within a key region.
• Collaborates with Business Development to foster agency relationships and drive growth.
• Strives to meet or exceed accident year loss ratios, rate change, renewal retention, and in-force premium goals.
• Documents and analyzes files, offering decisions within underwriting authority.
• Suggests improvements in underwriting principles, appetite, and processes.
• Ensures compliance with filings and regulatory requirements.
• Supports business development through responsive communication and agency visits.
