Job summary

KoBold Metals is hiring Software Engineers to accelerate its mission of turning mineral exploration into a repeatable science. You will embed with users to build production-grade data pipelines and tooling for exploration, owning projects end-to-end and collaborating with data scientists and geologists.

Strong Python skills, cloud data-system experience, and a track record of delivering impactful results in ambiguous domains are required; frontend experience is a plus, with willingness to travel

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally building production cloud data systems.
• Proficiency with Python.
• Ability to write production-quality code that is correct, readable, well-tested, scalable and extensible.
• Skilled in large-scale system design.
• A track record of taking ownership from definition of the problem and delivering projects with demonstrated impact in an iterative manner.
• Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn about mineral exploration, particularly geology, and to work directly with geologists in the field.
• Ability to explain technical problems to domain experts and collaborate with colleagues across the company.
• Excitement about joining a fast-growing early-stage company and adapting to a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage with exploration geologists and data scientists to tailor technology development to project needs.
• Build data pipelines and tooling for deriving human and machine insights from exploration data, leading a small team where appropriate.
• Develop expertise in KoBold’s Data Systems and understand their impact on exploration.
• Own projects end-to-end from design to implementation and testing, with ongoing engagement with exploration teams.
• Respond to design and code feedback, and provide feedback to teammates.
• Operationally manage the team’s services and assist scientists with tooling.
