Job summary

KoBold Metals is seeking Data Scientists at senior staff levels to build predictive models and geoscience tools that locate ore-grade mineralization. You will work with geoscientists to integrate geophysical data, design field programs, and reduce prediction uncertainty to guide exploration.

You will join an interdisciplinary team, travel to project sites, and help develop data systems and software from the ground up, accelerating discovery and decision-making in a fast-growing company.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required in physical sciences, engineering, CS, or math.
• 4+ years post-PhD or 8+ years post-MS in data science or data engineering.
• Experience leading technical teams applying novel scientific approaches to core business problems.
• Strong Python data science and software engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop KoBold’s proprietary software exploration tools.
• Curate geophysical, geochemical, geologic, and geographic data; integrate into KoBold’s data system.
• Build models to predict locations of compositional anomalies within the Earth’s crust.
• Create visualizations for evaluating model performance and enabling data exploration.
• Apply data processing, statistical, and physics-based techniques to geoscientific data; guide targeting and exploration decisions.
• Present to and collaborate with external partners and stakeholders.
