Canonical is hiring a Ubuntu Core Software Engineer to redefine the Linux experience in embedded environments with a small, secure, updatable OS. You’ll design and implement software for ARM, RISC-V, and X86, working on boot mechanisms, bootloaders, device trees, kernels, and services.

This remote role in the EMEA region offers a rewarding career with a distributed team, twice-yearly in-person sprints, a USD learning budget, annual review, travel 2–4 times a year, and competitive compensation.

Competenze

• Experience with C or Golang and Shell.
• Solid understanding of Linux and GNU/Linux distributions (Debian/Ubuntu preferred).
• Experience with Linux-capable devices (e.g., Raspberry Pi).
• Knowledge of bootloaders and OS-level firmware concepts is a plus.

Mansioni

• Write high quality code with unit tests to create new features.
• Debug Linux system level issues and produce high quality code to fix them.
• Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
• Review code produced by other engineers.
• Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions.
• Integrate diverse bootloaders and maintain gadget snaps.
• Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 times a year for events.
