Job summary

Canonical is seeking talented engineers to work on advanced low-level system technology on autonomous devices. You will join a global team, focusing on Ubuntu development for IoT and server-class hardware.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in Computer Science, a passion for Linux, and fluency in programming languages such as Golang, C, C++, or Rust. The role allows for remote work across various time zones and comes with a range of perks including a development budget and annual compensation review.

Qualifications

  • An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
  • Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations.
  • Passion for Linux or embedded systems software.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the latest Linux kernel and open source technologies.
  • Deliver Ubuntu for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms.
  • Collaborate proactively with other globally distributed teams.

Skills

Fluency in at least one of Golang, C, C++, or Rust
Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Experience in board design, bring up, and validation

Education

Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM

Tools

Shell or Python scripting skills
Understanding of build systems and toolchains
