Job summary

Ignite Reading is hiring Tutor Educators to join our certification program and tutor students throughout the academic year. Daily, one-on-one 15-minute sessions with the same students, five days a week, focus on foundational reading skills.

Onboarding starts between September and January. You must pass a background check, complete fingerprinting where required, and obtain provisional Ignite Reading certification after a paid 7-week training program.

Qualifications

• Must complete a 7-week Tutor Training Program.
• Commit to a minimum of 3+ hours of daily availability, five days a week.
• Demonstrate ability to navigate virtual platforms and sustain student relationships.
• Able to receive and implement feedback to improve instruction.
• Commit to delivering Ignite Reading’s curriculum with fidelity.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily, one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions lasting 15 minutes with the same students, five days a week.
• Deliver daily instruction focused on foundational reading skills (phonics, phonemic awareness, sight words).
• Record student data and meet performance standards for attendance and growth.
• Engage in the 7-week training and practicum to achieve provisional Ignite Reading certification.
• Maintain high professionalism and cultivate trusting relationships with students and peers.
