Zusammenfassung

The AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Transmission Planning Engineer to lead interconnection studies and regional planning across the United States. You will analyze grids, run automated power flow via Python, and guide project execution from inception through delivery.

The role requires strong experience with PJM RTEP, interconnection methodologies, and nodal production modeling tools. Travel up to 10% and potential remote work options are available.

Qualifikationen

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• +7 years of working experience in renewable or traditional energy development, or transmission planning with an emphasis on generator interconnection studies.
• Proficiency in power flow software (TARA, PSS/E).
• Ability to automate generator interconnection studies on an interconnection wide basis.
• Extensive knowledge of PJM Regional Transmission Expansion Plan (RTEP), Long Term Transmission Planning Process and modeling methodology.
• Extensive knowledge of PJM Generator Interconnection study methodology.

Aufgaben

• Lead successful execution of new and acquired projects across the United States.
• Analyze transmission grid to identify new opportunities for interconnecting renewable energy projects (e.g. solar, storage, wind).
• Spearhead power flow analysis such as FCITC, injection analysis, replicating market and region deliverability studies.
• Set up and conduct automated power flow analysis using Python or other scripting.
• Perform injection studies to identify optimal interconnection locations for generator resources.
• Track and participate in regions Transmission Planning Process and advocate for AES clean energy portfolio in Long Term Planning.
• Run nodal production modeling (PROMOD, UPLAN, GE MAPS, Aurora) and evaluate dispatch trends, curtailment trends, and LMP trends.
• Maintain regional power flow base cases with changes in resource mix and topology.
• Stay up to date on new technologies to model per regional generator interconnection criteria.
• Perform network upgrade cost allocation for proposed projects per tariff.
• Verify and challenge study results; perform scenario sensitivity analysis.
• Review studies and provide technical insight for acquisition generator projects.
• Understand market efficiency analysis and identify least congestion transmission points for PPAs.
• Understand tariff, interconnection standards, cost allocation, planning standards, and regional plans.
