Job summary

AES Corporation in the United States seeks a Market Lead for Transmission Strategy to drive transmission studies and interconnection for renewable projects across the region. You will lead scope, analytics, and automation efforts using Python and key transmission tools, interfacing with internal teams and external ISO/RTO stakeholders.

The role requires deep expertise in PJM planning, FCITC, and generator interconnection methodologies, with travel up to 10% and option for remote work in the EAST

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in renewable or traditional energy development, or transmission planning.
• Proficiency in power flow software (TARA, PSS/E).
• Ability to automate generator interconnection studies on an interconnection-wide basis.
• Extensive knowledge of PJM RTEP, Long Term Transmission Planning Process and modeling methodology.
• Extensive knowledge of PJM Generator Interconnection study methodology.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of projects across the United States in partnership with internal stakeholders.
• Analyze transmission grid to identify new interconnection opportunities for renewables (solar, storage, wind).
• Spearhead power flow analyses (FCITC, injection analysis) and replicate market studies.
• Set up automated power flow analysis using Python or other scripting languages.
• Perform injection studies to identify optimal interconnection locations.
• Advance region Transmission Planning Process participation and advocate AES clean energy portfolio in LTPT.
• Run nodal production modeling (PROMOD, UPLAN, GE MAPS, Aurora) and evaluate dispatch and LMP trends.
• Maintain regional power flow base cases with changes in resource mix and topology.
• Stay up to date on new technologies and model them per interconnection criteria.
• Perform network upgrade cost allocation per tariff.
• Verify and challenge study results; perform scenario analysis based on queue projections and retirements.
• Provide technical insight on acquisition generator projects.
• Understand tariff, interconnection practices, cost allocation, and planning standards.
