Job summary

AES Clean Energy is recruiting for the Market Lead position within the Transmission Strategy department. The role focuses on running automated power flow studies and interfacing with ISO/RTOs to advance generator interconnection for a large utility-scale project portfolio.

The position can be based in the EAST region offices or work remotely, with travel around 10%. Requires BS in EE, 7+ years in energy development or transmission planning, and expertise in PJM methods and power flow software.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• +7 years of working experience in renewable or traditional energy development, or transmission planning.
• Proficiency in power flow software (TARA, PSS/E).
• Ability to automate generator interconnection studies on an interconnection wide basis.
• Extensive knowledge of PJM RTEP, Long Term Transmission Planning Process and modeling methodology.
• Extensive knowledge of PJM Generator Interconnection study methodology.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of projects across the United States with internal stakeholders.
• Analyze transmission grid to identify interconnection opportunities for renewable projects.
• Spearhead power flow analysis including FCITC, injection analysis, and replicating market studies.
• Set up automated power flow analyses using Python or scripting languages.
• Conduct injection studies to identify optimal interconnection locations.
• Track regional Transmission Planning Process and advocate AES Clean Energyportfolio in Long Term Planning.
• Evaluate nodal production modeling and dispatch/price trends.
• Maintain base cases with resource mix and topology changes.
• Stay updated on new technologies and model them per criteria.
• Perform network upgrade cost allocations based on tariff.
• Verify and challenge study results.
• Conduct multiple scenario analyses based on queue projections and retirements.
• Provide technical insights on acquisition generator projects.
