Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Technician to provide hands-on support for power transformers. The role includes installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and end-of-life services, often performed on-site in challenging field conditions.

You will read electrical and mechanical drawings, follow technical manuals, and complete detailed service activities to improve transformer reliability and grid operation. Travel up to 85% and outdoor work are part of this role.

Qualifications

• Work authorization to be employed by Hitachi Energy in the United States.
• Associate degree with 2 years of professional work experience or High School Diploma with 5 years of professional work experience.
• Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testing.
• Familiarity with transformer installation, vacuum and oil processing, and internal transformer components.
• Valid driver's license with the ability to travel up to 85%.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacements.
• Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and technical manuals.
• Coordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare parts.
• Contribute to product and process improvements that enhance operations and customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
