First American is seeking an experienced Title Examiner to work remotely in the United States. The role focuses on examining residential title orders, reviewing chains of title, and resolving inconsistencies.

You will abstract records, prepare title commitments, and test title tools across diverse workflows. You bring 2+ years of multistate experience, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of multistate title examination experience.
• State license(s) if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform title examinations and review chains of title for a range of title orders, primarily residential.
• Abstract and analyze records—including mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books—to determine ownership, identify legal restrictions, verify legal descriptions, and assess record completeness.
• Resolve title issues involving missing, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information.
• Prepare initial title commitment documentation using established procedures and guidelines.
• Test title-related tools, platforms, and applications across a variety of workflows and scenarios.
• Compare system results with examiner judgment and source records; identify errors, omissions, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve results.
• Provide specific, actionable feedback to technology development teams, including examples of expected results and relevant examining context.
• Help define and refine test scenarios and workflows based on real-world title examination practices.
• Review reports and other system-generated documentation for accuracy and usability.
• Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines, as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned
