Job summary

Westcor Land Title Insurance Company is seeking a Title Examiner to review public records and issue title opinions. The role requires preparing title commitments, researching title plants, and communicating effectively with clients and managers to resolve title issues.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience with title searching software and familiarity with state-specific underwriting policies. A fast-paced environment and strict deadlines are part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Desirable specialized training in word processing, database or spreadsheet software.

Responsibilities

• Examine title orders to determine insurability based on documents such as deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, probates, and other records.
• Prepare an accurate title commitment in accordance with procedures and policies.
• Research title plant software and analyze documents for ownership, legal description, and related title issues.
• Explain chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and managers.
• Identify title defects and propose curative actions.
• Assess risks and liabilities and escalate to management or underwriter as appropriate.
• Maintain production levels and delivery standards daily.
• Collaborate with customers and management to meet deadlines and assist with inquiries.
• Perform other duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
