Merritt Recruitment seeks a commercially focused Technical Manager to drive growth across the North American marine market. You will work with marine OEMs, boat builders, distributors, and fabricators, providing technical leadership and supporting strategic accounts with value-driven solutions.

The role requires expertise in marine coatings, composites, and adhesive technologies, with a track record in technical sales or applications engineering.

Qualifications

• Background in marine coatings (ideal) or related fields.
• Experience in technical sales, business development or application engineering within chemicals, coatings or advanced materials.
• Strong understanding of marine manufacturing, coating applications or composite processes.
• Established relationships with boat builders, shipyards, marine OEMs, distributors or key industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Drive profitable growth across the North American marine sector through technical leadership and customer engagement.
• Act as the technical expert for marine composites, adhesives and resin systems.
• Support OEMs, boat builders, distributors and fabricators with trials, product approvals, training and troubleshooting.
• Partner with commercial teams to strengthen value propositions, improve margins and win new business.
• Lead marine product development initiatives, ensuring successful adoption of new technologies.
• Manage technical complaints, root-cause investigations and continuous improvement activities.
• Build strong relationships with key marine accounts and distribution partners across the region.
