Aardvark Tax Advisors is a full-service tax, accounting, and advisory firm seeking a Tax Associate to prepare returns and build a strong technical foundation for a tax career. You’ll work across entity types from day one with senior practitioners who review your work and provide targeted feedback.

The role can be fully remote outside northern California or hybrid in the Bay Area, with US-based remote options and travel as needed. You’ll grow into the best at what you do.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 0–3 years in tax, accounting, or a related field.
• Working understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Attention to detail, and the organizational discipline to hold several returns at different stages at once.
• Fearless about asking the right questions and getting to the right answers.
• Clear written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal, state, and local returns for individuals and business entities.
• Gather and organize client financial information and flag missing items before review.
• Build workpapers and documentation that others can follow.
• Hit filing deadlines for returns and extensions.
• Research federal, state, and local tax issues and cite sources.
• Track changes in tax law and apply them to engagements.
• Maintain client files to audit-ready standards.
