Job summary

Aardvark Tax Advisors, the tax, accounting, and advisory arm of Cynch AI, is seeking a Tax Associate to prepare returns, research tax questions, and build the technical foundation for a tax career.

This hybrid role is based in Cupertino, Pleasanton, or Santa Cruz, CA, with opportunities in the North Bay, and involves working with senior practitioners to review returns and grow expertise in federal, state, and local tax law.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 0–3 years in tax, accounting, or a related field.
• Working understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Attention to detail and ability to hold several returns at different stages at once.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal, state, and local returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
• Gather and organize client financial information and identify missing items before review.
• Build workpapers, supporting schedules, and documentation for others to follow.
• Hit filing deadlines for returns and extensions; deadlines are non-negotiable.
• Research tax issues—regulations, open questions, savings opportunities—and cite sources.
• Maintain client files and records to audit standards.
