Aardvark Tax Advisors, the Cynch AI accounting and advisory practice, is seeking a Tax Associate to prepare returns, perform research, and build the technical foundation for a tax career. The role offers remote work outside northern California or hybrid options in the Bay Area.

You will work with senior practitioners who review your returns, providing targeted feedback to help you become the best at what you do.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 0–3 years in tax, accounting, or related field.
• Working understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple returns.
• Clear written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal, state, and local returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
• Gather and organize client financial information and ensure completeness for review.
• Build workpapers, schedules, and documentation for easy transfer.
• Meet filing deadlines for returns and extensions without negotiation.
• Research tax issues and cite sources for support.
• Track changes in tax law and apply them to engagements.
• Maintain client files to a standard that withstands audit.
• Handle client questions on returns and notices, escalating as needed.
