Job summary

Databento is seeking a Systems Engineer to join its team, focused on managing the backbone of its data platform. You will handle a variety of systems, including storage and networking, in a hybrid environment. Candidates should be proficient in Linux and Python, with a background in systems engineering.

The position accommodates full-time remote work; however, candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and are expected to engage with a dynamic startup culture.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Linux systems.
• Experience in systems configuration and provisioning needed.
• Understanding of storage concepts such as RAID and LVM.
• Basic networking knowledge is required.
• Ability to code in Python and write shell scripts is essential.

Responsibilities

• Configuration of systems and network.
• Deployment of bare-metal and containerized applications.
• Maintenance of large storage clusters.
• Performance measurement and alert instrumentation.
• Supporting automation and tooling improvements.

Skills

Strong Linux knowledge

Systems configuration (PXE, Puppet, Ansible)

Storage concepts (RAID, LVM)

Basic networking (OSI model, IP protocols)

Python coding and shell scripting

DevOps/GitOps mindset

2+ years in systems engineering or infrastructure roles

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science

Education
