Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Coder II to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for patients, ensuring accurate modifiers for optimal reimbursement and high-quality data. The role requires adherence to Official Coding Guidelines and a strong knowledge of surgical coding within a multi-specialty setting.

Responsibilities include staying current with coding rules, participating in seminars, and elevating issues to supervisors. Limited travel is possible in some locations.

Qualifications

• Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) is required.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding and payment methodologies.
• Working knowledge of California and National reporting requirements.
• Minimum 3 years of surgical coding experience in a multi-specialty medical group or physician practice.

Responsibilities

• Performs accurate and timely coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers).
• Maintains familiarity with coding regulations, Medicare rules, visits and procedures on the same day, consultation vs. referral, surgeries.
• Implements coding guidelines for multi-specialty surgical practices and/or complex surgical coding.
• Attends seminars/workshops for updates on coding rules and regulations.
• Raises issues to Coding Supervisor/Manager as needed.
• Meets productivity and quality standards per supervisory direction.
• Monitors coding trends (NCD, LCD, CMS) and adapts practices.
• Identifies trends and proposes solutions to improve coding practices.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient care and business matters.
• Follows policies and procedures of coding/compliance departments.

Education

Certified Procedural Coder (CPC)

CIRCC (Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder) Preferred
