Job summary

Surgery Partners is seeking a qualified Coder to review medical records, code patient charges, and process data in a timely manner across our facilities. You will support clinicians and billing staff to ensure accurate documentation.

Responsibilities include auditing outpatient charts, adhering to ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding, and maintaining records within two days of discharge. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and Windows-based software is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience coding with ICD-10-CM and CPT.
• Prefer 3 years medical coding experience in ASC and/or anesthesia setting.
• Certification can include CPC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT.

Responsibilities

• Analyze outpatient charts, record deficiencies, and assign responsibility for completion.
• Develops a system for and performs regular quality control reviews for accuracy.
• Tracks problems related to record completion and reports to Supervisor.
• Ensure records are available on request and control record completion for medical staff.
• Code medical records within two working days of discharge using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4; ensure coding is consistent.
• Complete data entry, claims, and report generation.
• Maintain professional operations and communicate with supervisor and peers to improve efficiency.
• Interact professionally with customers, patients, payors, physicians, and staff.
• Perform other related duties as required and stay updated on guidelines.
