Job summary

Leidos Engineering is seeking a Substation Structural Designer to guide a diverse team of designers and drafters in creating structural designs, calculations and drawings for substation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements.

You will lead design reviews, mentor junior designers, collaborate with other disciplines, manage project timelines and stay updated on relevant technologies to ensure successful delivery.

Qualifications

• AA/2-year degree in Engineering Technology or CAD, or equivalent experience.
• 1–4 years of steel design experience with high voltage substations.
• Understanding of design concepts for high voltage substations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews and mentor junior designers.
• Coordinate with engineers across disciplines to resolve design issues.
• Ensure project deliverables meet technical quality and standards.
• QA/QC steel foundations, details, and BOMs for substation projects.
• Maintain project timelines and effective client communications.
• Support site civil/physical design teams as needed.
