Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Structural Engineer to oversee design and review of civil/structural components for substation projects. The role emphasizes leadership, client relations, and adherence to codes under seismic loading conditions.

The candidate will guide a design team, perform reviews, and develop junior staff while coordinating with project teams across multiple clients. Remote work is supported with occasional travel, primarily in or near CA.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 5+ years.
• PE License in California required
• SE License in any state preferred
• Proven client management and business communication experience required
• Experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD
• Experience with RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, SAG10, FAD or LPile
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Strong knowledge of ASCE/AISC/ACI/IBC codes
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills
• Team player with client/staff communication capabilities

Responsibilities

• Lead project design reviews for civil/structural components for substation packages
• Mentor and develop junior staff on design tasks
• Manage client relationships and align on scope, schedule and budget
• Perform structural design under seismic loading and site-specific conditions
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications
• Coordinate with engineers, designers and drafting staff across multiple clients
