Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Mid-level to Senior Substation Engineer to join our team, working remotely or in a US-based office. You will lead and contribute to power grid and substation projects, developing General Arrangements, Equipment Plans, Grounding, and cable schedules while mentoring junior engineers.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 5–10+ years of relevant experience, with PE preferred and AutoCAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in substation engineering for intermediate roles; 10+ years for senior roles.
• PE registration preferred for all positions.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred.
• Prior utility consulting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review electrical design packages for medium/high voltage substations.
• Lead substation physical electrical design, site layouts, elevations, buswork, grounding, and schedules.
• Perform design studies and ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to meet schedules and budgets.
• Provide construction support, site visits, and respond to field questions.
• Maintain project documentation and QA/QC procedures.
