Job summary

ICF is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to guide high-voltage substation projects (69kV–500kV) from a home office. You will oversee physical design drawings, specs, grounding, and 3D modeling while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; focus in power systems preferred.
PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months is required or highly desired.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design tool; familiarity with IEEE/NESC/utility specs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to mentor junior staff and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the design and preparation of substation physical design drawings (One Line, Three Line, General Arrangements, Electrical Details).
Develop grounding, conduit, lighting, panel layouts, and illumination plans.
Coordinate with protection, civil/structural, and drafting teams to ensure quality deliverables and QA/QC adherence.
Mentor junior engineers; participate in site visits and client meetings; contribute to project planning and risk reviews.
