Job summary

ICF is seeking a Department Manager for Substation Physical Engineering to lead our nationwide practice, directing planning, design, analysis, modernization, and construction support for utility clients. You will manage a multidisciplinary team, maintain safety and quality, and drive project delivery on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical substation expertise with proven leadership, business acumen, and client relationship skills, while promoting innovation

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering and PE license.
• 12+ years in substation engineering and utilities experience.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience managing project portfolios, staffing, and budgets.
• Ability to travel for client meetings and on-site reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of substation engineers and designers.
• Oversee department staffing, workload forecasting, and resource allocation.
• Direct delivery of substation projects from planning to construction support.
• Provide technical direction on high-voltage projects up to 765kV.
• Establish engineering standards and QA/QC processes.
• Drive growth and client relationships with utility customers.
• Monitor performance metrics including utilization and backlog.
