Job summary

ICF seeks a Department Manager, Substation Physical Engineering to lead and grow our substation engineering practice nationwide. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, oversee operations, technical quality, staff development, and financial performance.

You will drive strategic growth, maintain client relationships, set engineering standards, and ensure safety and compliance while delivering high-quality design, analyses, and modernization projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 12+ years in substation engineering, design, or related services.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience with utilities, EPC firms, or engineering consulting.
• Willingness to travel for client presentations and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of substation engineers and designers.
• Oversee staffing, forecasting, and resource allocation.
• Direct on-time, on-budget delivery of projects.
• Provide technical leadership from distribution to 765kV.
• Establish standards, QA/QC, and workflows.
• Drive business growth and client relationships.
• Champion safety, quality, and compliance.
• Provide executive oversight of engineering studies.
