Job summary

Salem University is seeking a Student Support Advisor to provide proactive, holistic guidance and student success support from enrollment through graduation, managing a high-volume remote caseload.

This role collaborates with Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, the Registrar, faculty, and Student Services to connect students with resources, maintain regular contact via phone, email, text, and video meetings, and use data to intervene and support persistence and degree completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience in academic advising or student services.
• Strong communication skills and service orientation.
• Comfort with technology and remote work environments.
• Commitment to supporting student success and persistence.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary advisor for an assigned portfolio of students throughout their academic journey.
• Build supportive relationships that encourage engagement, persistence, retention, and graduation.
• Proactively reach out via phone, email, text, and virtual meetings to maintain contact with students.
• Help students understand academic requirements, policies, resources, and support services.
• Provide guidance on academic planning, time management, study skills, and goal setting.
• Encourage accountability and self-advocacy while supporting student autonomy.
• Monitor student engagement and progress to identify at-risk students.
• Document outreach and interventions in SIS/CRM advising systems.
• Collaborate with faculty and student services to coordinate early interventions.
• Participate in orientation and student success initiatives.
