Job summary

Samuel Merritt University is seeking a Student Advisor for a remote position. You will provide comprehensive academic guidance, help with degree planning, and support student success across multiple programs.

The role requires collaboration with faculty and administrative staff to identify at-risk students and implement strategies to improve outcomes. Responsibilities include supporting orientations and graduations, maintaining confidential records, and contributing to reporting and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 90 credits and actively pursuing a degree in healthcare, business administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in student advising or student support services, preferably in health professions education.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in culturally responsive advising practices and commitment to diverse student populations.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, and ADA compliance regulations.
• Familiarity with advising best practices, student retention strategies, and degree audit systems.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for student events and orientations.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, individualized academic advising, assisting students with degree planning and course selection.
• Monitor academic performance and identify at-risk students, initiating timely interventions.
• Collaborate with Program Chair to address academic concerns and track student progress.
• Offer career guidance to students and support informed decision-making.
• Participate in orientations, graduations, and other student-centered events to foster engagement.
• Maintain confidential advising records in FERPA-compliant systems.
