Job summary

Midsouth Steel LLC. is seeking an Estimator to prepare detailed cost estimates for multi-family housing projects across the southeastern United States.

This remote-friendly role focuses on structural steel stairs, rails, and miscellaneous steel components, collaborating with PMs, engineers, detailers, architects, vendors, and contractors to deliver accurate bids. The ideal candidate has at least two years of estimating experience in steel construction, proficiency with Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, and

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the structural or miscellaneous steel industry.
• Experience with multi-family housing projects strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications for multi-family housing developments.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steel stairs, rails, and miscellaneous steel products.
• Utilize Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, and Microsoft Office Suite to develop, organize, and manage estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers/detailers, and architects to define project scope and clarify requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to quality standards.
• Identify potential cost efficiencies and value-engineering opportunities.
• Maintain organized documentation of all estimates, bids, and supporting data.
• Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, and vendors in the multi‑family construction market.
• Support the Multi‑Family Division’s growth by providing accurate, timely estimates that align with project and client expectations.
